About BBBS of McHenry County "B" for Kids' Sake 2021

Bowl For Kids' Sake is getting a new twist! Due to COVID and ensuring all our staff, volunteers, and participants feel safe, we are giving YOU the option to choose which "B" activity you want as your incentive for reaching your fundraising goal! Choose the traditional BOWLING route for those that want to socially distance, OR choose the BAGS option to safely gather together outside at a designated date/time with other supporters for a Bags celebration!

Bowling Vouchers, which include bowling, shoe rental, pizza and pop, will be available for 2 options*:

  • 3D Bowl & Sideouts, Island Lake (4018 Roberts Rd, Island Lake IL 60042)
  • Kingston Lanes, Woodstock (1330 S Eastwood Dr, Woodstock IL 60098)

*Bowl For Kids' Sake will NOT be held together in 1 large event day as it has been in past years. Bowling vouchers will be available to use independently June - October 31, at participating locations.

The Bags Activity has different date options to choose from (you can only participate in ONE date), and include games, food, and a t-shirt:

  • Thursday, June 17 from 5 - 7pm @ BBBS Parking Lot in Crystal Lake
  • Saturday, June 19 from 3 - 5pm @ BBBS Parking Lot in Crystal Lake
  • MATCH DAY (Bigs & Littles only) - Sunday, June 27 from 12 - 2pm @ Emricson Park, Woodstock

HOW IT WORKS

BFKS is our peer-to-peer fundraiser to support youth mentoring programs in McHenry County.

Register to create a profile and start sharing with your friends, family, and colleagues to help raise funds for BBBS. A "little" goes a long way, and asking your connections to donate even $5 or $10 makes a BIG impact on the lives of kids in our community!

You can register as an individual, create a team, or join an existing team to reach your goal! BBBS asks that everyone who registers set a minimum goal of $75 to support our mentoring programs. You can raise more than $75, which we strongly encourage! The minimum gets you to your Bowl or Bags activity, but we have some pretty awesome incentives for those who want to go the extra mile and raise BIG for the Littles in our programs! Check out our Incentives tab in the About Menu to learn more.

Having trouble registering? Check out our FAQ tab in the About Menu to learn more, or contact Kelsey directly.

Become a DEFENDER of Potential!

By participating in BFKS 2021, YOU help inspire, ignite, and defend the potential of youth in McHenry County. The Littles in our program come from various backgrounds, but ALL are in need of a positive, adult mentor who will help them discover the best possible version of themselves. Kids who have a mentor are:

  • More likely to think about their future and college
  • More likely to have an increase in self-confidence
  • More likely to do better in school & exhibit better classroom behavior
  • Less likely to use illegal drugs or drink underage
Mentors make an immense impact on the life of a child. At BBBS, we recruit, screen, and match volunteers with a child and continue to monitor, coach, and support the relationship over the coming months and years. In McHenry County, we currently serve 500 children across 3 programs: Community Based Mentoring, Lunch Time Mentoring, and After School Mentoring.

Your support helps in various ways:
  • Professional staff monitoring matches to ensure safety guidelines are followed
  • Match Activities for Bigs and Littles to do together at no cost
  • Recruitment of Volunteer Bigs to match with waiting Littles
  • Background checks and fingerprinting for potential volunteers
  • Safety trainings for staff, Bigs, and parent/guardians
  • And more!

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
