About 100 Kata for Karate Day

Welcome to my fundraising page, in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation

In karate, members of the dojo become family. They're no different than a regular family. They fight. They play. They work hard together. They break bread together. They learn. They laugh. They love. They cry. They celebrate the successes of other family members. And they mourn the loss of family.
This year, our dojo will again be participating in the 100 Kata for Karate Day Challenge, an annual event since 2014, celebrated on October 25. Again this year, we are using it as an opportunity to raise money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. But this event takes on a very special meaning for us this time.
In January 2021, we lost our dear friend Sarah, a karate mom and wife and a stalwart supporter of the dojo, to cancer. Sarah had been with us since 2008, studying for a time with her family and eventually becoming the dojo's treasurer. She also joined us on a very memorable training junket to Okinawa, Japan in 2016.
This year, it only seems fitting that we remember and honour Sarah's dedication and devotion to the dojo by training hard and raising money to support the foundation's research and its support for Albertans living with cancer.
Thank you for donating to the cause - and for supporting the efforts of our karate family, young and old.
