How Your Support Makes a Difference

We've always been more than just a gym and swim - filling gaps and supporting critical needs in ways that no other organization can. Working to help children, families and individuals overcome barriers and achieve more in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  The Y commits to:

  • Make the Y Available To All - The Y is committed to making our programs and membership available to all regardless of their ability to afford the services.
  • Nurture the Potential of Kids - Through the Early Learning Center, School Age Child Care, and Camp, the Y is committed to helping to prepare children for academic and lifelong success and support families by delivering quality programs.
  • Strengthen Community Health - By providing programs like the Y Diabetes Prevention Program, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, and physical, recreational, and social outlets to help make area residents healthier
  • Teach Our Children to Swim - Through swim lessons, we are committed to giving a child the opportunity to learn the life-saving skills of swimming.

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

During the pandemic, your YMCA is doing MORE with LESS. In addition to ensuring that all in our community can benefit from the YMCA's programs, we have pivoted the following services to support our community's most urgent needs and long-term well-being:

  • We provided emergency childcare for children of essential workers who had to continue to work during this challenging time. 
  • We provided families with a week's supply of meals for their children. Serving over 100,000 meals.
  • We launched the Y Learning Lab as an alternative to distance learning from home. As a result, we helped parents struggling to balance the demands of work with responsibilities at home.
  • We provided support our members by providing them with virtual options to stay healthy, active, and connected in their homes.
  • In partnership with the Red Cross, our staff supports blood drives at the Y to address the shortage of blood supplies and we have potentially saved over 2,200 lives.

But, we cannot do it alone.  The Reston Y is counting on support from donors like you to help bridge the gap and ensure every child and adult in need has excess to resources they can depend on. When you give to the Caring for Community Campaign, your support helps create opportunities for everyone in our community. 100% of the money raised through the Campaign stays in our community. Also, 100% of your donation is used directly to support programs and scholarships.
