Ever since I read about the PGA REACH Marathon team I knew it was something really special that I wanted to be a part of. I have never run a marathon before, but I love to run. Running is part of my normal training program. I run in 5K races often and I competed in my first triathlon last year. So I am excited to continue challenging myself by running in the TCS NYC Marathon.

As for PGA REACH, the impact it has on not only golf, but the local community in general is just outstanding. I work with PGA Jr. League Coaches and consumers on a daily basis and it is just an amazing program for young golfers. PGA REACH's ability to provide scholarships to players who otherwise would be unable to participate is a huge step in growing golf for the future.
Earlier this spring, I became a PGA HOPE instructor. Every week I look forward to working with the veterans at my local PGA HOPE clinic in Lyons, NJ. I don't think enough people know what PGA HOPE is and the impact it has on everyone involved. It is awesome to see those veterans hitting balls on the range, working hard to improve their games, but more importantly, providing them with an opportunity to take their minds off of their ailments if even for just a few hours. I hope that by running in the marathon I can help spread awareness for PGA HOPE!
I truly believe that the more people learn about PGA REACH and the various programs under its umbrella the more they are going to want to be a part of it. Whether it is signing their child up for PGA Jr. League and donating to the scholarship fund, letting a veteran in the family know about PGA HOPE and getting them to attend a clinic, or getting a local college student to apply for a PGA Works Fellowship, I believe that through my efforts in running the TCS NYC Marathon that I will be able to get the people in my community to rally around the PGA REACH causes. I look forward to making my community and PGA REACH stronger as a result.
