Cohen Douglas was born 19 weeks too soon and was only with us for just over 2 hours. This is for him.
Five years ago on March 13, we lost our second son, Cohen Douglas. He was born very premature at just 21 weeks. He was born with his daddy's nose, his brother's ears and a beating heart for just two short hours. He was here and gone in what seemed like an instant and an eternity all at once. For his 5th birthday this year, we are asking that our friends and family consider donating to March of Dimes. On October 20, David, Jackson, Charlie and I will be representing March of Dimes and telling Cohen's story at the Construction & Transportation Awards Luncheon in Chicago in the hopes of raising critical funds to support research, advocacy and programs for the health of all moms and babies. Our family's goal this year is to raise $10,000.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. With a $30 donation, you would be helping with educating NICU staff and supporting families through online and in-person resources. With a $50 donation, you would be helping offer clinically relevant, peer-reviewed education and training for healthcare professionals online and in-person. With a $100 donation, you would be supporting the ability to convene with communities to implement evidence-based strategies that address the social determinants of health to end the healthy equity gap. With a $250 donation, you would be helping the US invest in medical, scientific and social science research that are vital to fight for the health of all moms and babies.
Together we’ll be part of a movement to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy. Help us to continue to fight for the smallest among us.
We love you all and as always, Be Kind for Cohen.
