2023 TCS New York City Marathon supporting Colon Cancer Foundation

Colon cancer took my mom from us and has affected so many. I dedicate my run to her strength and celebrate her life and all she gave us.
I am humbled to have the opportunity to join the Colon Cancer Foundation team for the 2023 NYC Marathon, in honor of my beloved mother, Norma Watson. Two years ago, she lost her valiant battle with colon cancer, leaving a void that can never be filled. In her memory, I have been seeking a way to pay tribute to her while supporting those who have been impacted by this challenging disease.
My mother was a shining light, radiating joy and creative spirit with her infectious smile and a heart full of love for her family and life itself. Despite her fierce seven-year fight against colon cancer, there were moments of despair, but she remained resolute in her hope for a cure. Witnessing her unwavering spirit amid the ups and downs was both humbling and inspiring, and I am not sure if I could ever be as strong as she was.
As fate would have it, the marathon coincides with my mother's birthday, which makes this run all the more meaningful. It is a celebration of her life, a symbol of hope for a cure, and a reminder of the countless individuals who continue to suffer or have been defeated from colon cancer, including my uncle and dear friends. I have seen firsthand the devastating impact of this disease, and I know that my children and I are at risk in the future. Thus, it is imperative that we unite and strive towards finding a cure.
I invite you to join me on this journey through New York, in dedication to my mother, uncle, and friends, by supporting my fundraising goal. Together, we can continue the fight against colon cancer and help make a difference and remember the lives of those who have been affected.
