About 21 CWC Grow Campaign

Where We Are and Where We're Going

Just before the pandemic hit in March of 2020, we launched the Grow Campaign. Thanks to our generous donors we were able to complete the initial phase of the project by installing the labyrinth. Today the Cancer Wellness Center is moving forward with the next phase of the plan to create a healing garden which will expand our beautiful outdoor space.

Our vision is to provide Center participants and our community a place where they can let go, find clarity, reconciliation, purpose, or peace.

The Labyrinth and Healing Garden will enable the Center to expand programming to participants and the broader CWC community with

  • Dedicated labyrinth programs
  • Outdoor meeting and class space i.e. Yoga, Tai Chi, etc.
  • Outdoor meditation space
  • Garden cultivation

We are seeking supporters like you who are committed to ensuring the CWC Labyrinth and Healing Garden will inspire and enrich the lives of visitors for years to come. Gifts of all sizes are needed to create and maintain the labyrinth garden. A generous donor will match each dollar donated to help us reach our goal faster.

Together We Heal

Research shows that our brains relax when we are surrounded by nature and our bodies can experience this relaxation as decreased stress and a sense of calm. Living with cancer can create so many stresses, which can in turn compromise immune functioning and quality of life. The Center’s wellness programs address both the physical and emotional components of distress by offering a variety of evidence-based classes that have been found to produce a physiological relaxation response.

A labyrinth & healing garden offers an opportunity to introduce our participants to potentially powerful tools they can utilize on their own to reduce stress, increase creativity, quiet the mind enough to process important questions, and find joy in the moment.

Honor Someone Special and Plant a Legacy

The labyrinth and healing garden will be permanent to the Center and will support healing through nature for years to come. Various structures will be sprinkled throughout the space to stand as personalized tributes.

  • Honor an important life or commemorate an event with the gift of a tree
  • Remember a loved one with a memorial bench
  • Celebrate a joyous occasion with a named garden

Additional naming opportunities are available such as dedicated garden spaces, statues, fountains, etc. To learn more about creating a living memorial or tribute, please contact Doris Downing at 847.509.9595

*gifts will be matched up to the fundraising goal amount.
