About AIDS Walk Wisconsin Fundraiser
| AIDS Walk Wisconsin holds a special place in our community’s history and heart. Since 1990, the Walk has united more than 135,000 walkers and volunteers in the fight against HIV/ AIDS. Every year, we gathered to memorialize our past and mobilize for our future.
As you may already be aware, Vivent Health (formerly the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin) has undergone significant change over the last few years. Our evolution has allowed us to bring our medical home model to communities where it is needed most and to provide life-saving care to more people living with and at risk for HIV than ever before. |
As part of this evolution, we are continually assessing our programs, including seeking new ways to provide opportunities for our donors and friends to support our mission. And so given the impact Covid-19 has had on non-profit fundraising, Vivent Health has made the difficult decision that we will no longer hold the annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin. We are so grateful to our walkers, our volunteer staff and our sponsors, including Molson Coors and the Brewers Community Foundation, for being steadfast in their support over the years.
Vivent Health will continue to fundraise in support of our patients and create opportunities for engagement with our mission. But we know the AIDS Walk has always been about so much more than bringing in donations and raising awareness. It’s about community. Togetherness. Honoring the people who come together to fight HIV/AIDS. Celebrating individuals living with HIV. And remembering those we lost too soon to the disease.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Pridefest Milwaukee to reintroduce the Candlelight Ceremony—a time when all can come together to honor, uplift, and commemorate individuals whose lights burned out too quickly. While some things about Vivent Health are changing, our dedication to our local communities and the people we serve never will.
Please join us for the Candlelight Ceremony on Saturday, June 3 at 9:20pm at the SKYYLine Main Stage during the annual Pridefest Milwaukee celebration. Together, we can make sure the heart and soul of the AIDS Walk lives on. |
