2022 Baxter's MLK Day of Service

Inspired by the civil rights leader’s famous quote about moving forward, let’s move together (virtually!) to support patients, families and communities in the fight against kidney disease as we recognize Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and legacy.

On Monday, January 17, 2022 participants will complete at least 1 mile of movement on their own to commemorate MLK Day by giving back, and getting moving! The event is open to all ages and abilities. You are welcome to complete your miles in whatever way works best for you. Monetary donations to support NKFI will be accepted through 1/30/2022.

THE CAUSE

Fundsraised will support the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois’ research, public education, and patient services to make a difference in the lives of patients and families fighting kidney disease.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. SIGN UP

• Step 1: Register for Baxter’s 2022 MLK Day Virtual Move-A-Thon and set-up your individual page. Optionally, you can create your profile with a photo, fundraising/mile(s) goals and why you’re joining us

• Step 2: Navigate to the Get Involved tab above or click the following link to join your Baxter site: Baxter's MLK Day of Service (onecause.com)

• Step 3: Once you have joined a Baxter site location, create or join a team and share your personal link with friends and family so they can join your team and help your site reach fundraising goals! Baxter's MLK Day of Service (onecause.com)

2. FUNDRAISE!

To increase your impact, feel free to ask your friends and family members to contribute a donation to your page OR sign up to participate themselves! Baxter employees who donate $25 or more are eligible to have their donations matched by the Baxter International Foundation.* 

3. JANUARY 17: GET MOVING!

On Monday, January 17, 2022 complete at least 1 mile of movement however you’d like—walking or running on a treadmill or throughout your neighborhood cycling, swimming , dancing—feel free to get creative, and have fun with it! 

4. SUBMIT YOUR MATCHING GIFT REQUEST

In 2021 Baxter set a goal of $10,000 and fundraised $25,900. This year our goal is $15,000 and we expect to surpass last years total, so make sure you match your donation! 

The Baxter International Foundation will match employee donations to have DOUBLE the impact. Once you have completed your fundraising, Baxter employees should submit their receipt and a Matching Gift request here.
