Believe…

in miracles

Ryan Howard Peake

It was June of 2006. I was in the best shape of my life. I was an active person, I ate right, worked out regularly, and never thought about Cancer.

I had been experiencing a slight pain in my jaw, and it was progressively getting worse. When I could no longer handle the pain, I went to the doctor. I was sent home with pain medication and scheduled for a host of tests.

The next day I was rushed to Redlands Community Hospital after passing out and falling. I was admitted immediately, and tests were run. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkins Burkitts Lymphoma. The cancer was very advanced and very aggressive. I was given only days to live if I did not start treatment at once.

After a battle for my life, seven months of Chemotherapy, and countless treatments at Redlands Community Hospital, I was able to go home a changed man. At the beginning of treatment, I was given a 10 percent chance to beat my cancer and live to see another five years. It has now been 16 years, and going strong!

My cancer experience forever changed me. I believe in miracles because sometimes that’s what it takes. Never lose hope, faith, or belief in a higher power.
