Believe…

in Paying It Forward!

Judy Genshock

I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer over fifteen years ago, and began 14 rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a mastectomy and radiation.

My husband had been laid off from his job, and I was unable to work during treatment. We stopped making mortgage and credit card payments and faced an impossible situation of being unable to afford gasoline for the daily 140-mile round trip for 7-8 weeks of radiation treatment. Thinking I would forego my treatment, I started researching and found Breast Cancer Solutions (BCS). I figured, “Well, why not apply?”

For the next two months, BCS provided gasoline cards so I could make the drive to my radiation treatment. If it hadn’t been for BCS, I don’t know what my situation would have been.

I vowed that when I was well, I would pay it forward. I began volunteering as soon as I felt well enough and have not only enjoyed meeting and helping BCS clients but have also become a much more confident person. I owe a lot to BCS!
