Camp Oty’Okwa

Some kids that come to camp: have experienced homelessness and/or poverty, struggle with food insecurity, are victims of crime, are grieving the loss of a parent, have witnessed traumatic circumstances.

We never charge them to attend, and welcome them even if they only show up with the clothes on their backs.  We provide everything else they need.

Sometimes the bus trip to camp is the first time they have ever left their neighborhood.  Or the first time they have walked into a forest.

We not only strive to provide the basics, but we push the limits of our budget to give them experiences to build their resiliency, provide therapeutic services to validate their experiences and feelings, give them opportunities to gain skills they will need as they venture into adulthood, and expose them to as many positive role models and mentors as possible.

I will be honest, I feel uncomfortable asking for money.  But I do feel so strongly about our mission and what we are offering children that I’m putting this out here to ask that you please consider donating to support them and our continuous work toward their success.
