Cathy runs Berlin to raise awareness of ovarian cancer in memory of my mother!
This year, I registered for the 2024 BMW Berlin Marathon event because I want to raise awareness and funding for National Ovarian Cancer Coalition . My support will help improve the lives of women, families and communities touched by ovarian cancer and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
WHY I RUN..
My name is Cathy Roes, I am joining NOCC Team Teal for a second marathon because my life has been affected by Womens cancer. I lost my Mother in 2014, she was a force to be reckoned with, a volunteer, a friend and a source of joy for many. Since my Moms death a lot of things have changed in my life, including my drive to do more for my community and for those around me that need an advocate.

I have spent my adult life focused on early identification an intervention of women's cancer. I was a board member with a local women's health clinic for nearly a decade, as well as the President of that board for the majority of that time. I have watched women come out on top as survivors of this terrible disease, all I can hope for is that my journey helps more women come out cured of Ovarian Cancer.
After my Moms death I had some significant changes in my life, including getting sober, and quitting smoking. Those journeys have also lead me here. I started running as an escape, a way to let my mind work with my body, a way to focus on persevering even when things are tough. I'll tell you - there are plenty of days when I have run in negative double digits, into ridiculous head winds, or been half way though a run and my body and brain have told me its too much - I should stop. I haven't', I won't. I think of my Mom and her battle, she never gave up, even when she was exhausted, physically ill, unable to eat or even drink water.
Typical running conditions for Northern Wyoming.
I feel the same way about the marathon, its an analogy for me, for those that fight and don't give up even when it seems insurmountable, it's possible if you just keep the faith and keep going.

In this year of great challenges, one even greater challenge remains, saving more lives from ovarian cancer. Dollars raised for the NOCC support national programs and local market initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, assist newly-diagnosed patients throughout the country, provide ongoing support to caregivers, and advocate for the advancement of ovarian cancer research.
Help me connect with my community and show my passion for saving lives and ending ovarian cancer.
Will you please join me to help save lives by donating today?
