We need your help preparing students for school!

For many families, the new school year brings excitement as students prepare by shopping for new and trendy supplies and clothing for the entire academic year. At Catholic Charities, this need lasts all year-long, with new families continually moving into both St. Anthony Family Shelter and Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter.

When children arrive at one of our shelters, they often don’t have the basic necessities required for school. One of the first steps our case managers take to create a normal routine for them is to make sure they are attending school and have everything they need to be successful.

But storing a year’s worth of supplies at the two shelters can be tricky. This is why Catholic Charities is seeking cash donations, along with tangible items, during the current School Supply Drive.

According to Traci Kennedy, executive director, "cash donations received at the beginning of the school year give our shelter staff the resources they need to purchase supplies and clothing in the right colors and sizes as new children enter shelter throughout the year."
