David and Debbie Beckman were first introduced to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s New Jersey Chapter in 2016 when their oldest son, Joe, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. The Beckman family quickly became involved as top team participants and fundraisers for the Chapter’s A Touch of Football event, which takes place annually at MetLife Stadium. David and Debbie, both passionate about music, also helped to create a unique fundraising event with the Chapter – BANDed Together, which is a “battle of the bands” event that Dave’s band, The Stiff Joints, plays in each year.

As David and Debbie’s passion for raising critical dollars to support the Foundation’s mission grew, their younger son, Robby, was also diagnosed in 2019, with Crohn’s disease. David and Debbie elevated their support by joining the New Jersey Chapter Board, serving on both the Touch of Football and BANDed Together event Executive Committees, and have raised more than $250,000 as leaders in the New Jersey IBD Community. They have been incredible role models for their sons, who have developed their parents’ passion for philanthropy. Both Joe and Robby actively fundraise to support A Touch of Football, and have engaged their friends to participate and support their efforts as well.

The Beckman Family is being honored this year with the Community Impact Award at the Cheers to A Cure gala on Thursday, November 30th. The family will also be participating in the 13th annual A Touch of Football Tournament for the Foundation again this year on Saturday, November 18th at MetLife Stadium.  For anyone local who would like to attend the gala click here to learn more.  To support the Beckman's 2023 fundraising efforts to help find a cure for these diseases click Make a Donation at the top of the page.
