Chefs Cycle 2026 supporting No Kid Hungry

This June 2–3, I’ll be riding 200 miles in Bend, Oregon with one simple belief: No kid should ever go hungry. Period.
This June 2–3, I’ll be riding 200 miles in Bend, Oregon with one simple belief:
No kid should ever go hungry. Period.
This cause is deeply personal to me. I still think about a story my mom once shared from her time as a teacher. A young student visited her family for a weekend, and at dinner, she noticed him quietly studying the table—counting the number of pieces of food and the number of people sitting there. Then it hit him: he was going to get a whole portion to himself. That moment—something so small for most of us—meant everything to him. It still stays with me.
For years, I’ve supported Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign because they don’t just raise awareness—they take action. They believe childhood hunger is solvable, and they focus on making sure existing resources actually reach the kids who need them. Whether it’s school breakfast programs or summer meal access, their work is practical, urgent, and impactful.
What’s most striking is how close this issue is to all of us. Walk through any thriving city—Boston, New York, LA—and just a few blocks away, there are families facing real food insecurity. We don’t always see it, but it’s there. And for too many kids, the most reliable meal they’ll have is the one they get when school starts again on Monday.
That shouldn’t be reality. Not here. Not anywhere.
The idea behind No Kid Hungry is powerful: we all have a strength we can share.
I never thought mine would be riding a bike 200 miles—but here we are.
If you’re able to support this ride—whether it’s a little or a lot—it truly means the world to me. Every bit helps ensure more kids have access to the meals they deserve.
No kid should ever go hungry. And with your help, they won’t have to.
Thank you 🙏
