2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon supporting Boomer Esiason Foundation

I am so excited to represent the Cystic Fibrosis community and run my FIRST marathon for the Boomer Esiason Foundation alongside my brother!
Personal Statement
When I was 7 years old, my brother (5) contracted pseudomonas and was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis after a short stint in the hospital. I was subsequently diagnosed, crushing my parents morale and leaving a lasting impact on my family. Despite our bad luck and worse odds, we persevered.Due to my seemingly endless supply of hyperactivity, my parents urged me to run. And run I did. From playing lacrosse, to joining the cross country and track team, running inspired me, comforted me, gave me lasting friendships, and improved my lung function. Running has been my therapy for as long as I can remember.
In my senior year of high school, running transformed from a sport I loved, to an overwhelming burden of expectation and anxiety. In the years following high school, I found it difficult to redefine my relationship with running. As I settle into my adult life and career, I'm excited for this opportunity to refamiliarize myself with something that used to bring me immense joy.
I hope that my story can inspire you to reclaim what you have lost, or discover a new passion against all odds and in spite of any diagnosis.
Now, as I embark on a literal marathon to raise awareness and funds, I hope that you will join me in this race for a cure, turning every mile into a triumph against cystic fibrosis.
