We are inspired to raise funds because all kids matter, they are our future!
I am not a poet but I am the Mayor of Fort Myers. The choice to join Clips for Cancer isn’t a choice as mayor this is personal - because at some point in all our lives cancer becomes personal - whether it impacts your immediate family, a relative or a dear friend. I am joining the fight against childhood cancer and supporting Barbara’s Friends to help all children in SWFL who are battling this terrible disease feel supported by their community.
This will be my 3rd year going bald to show kids how much they matter. I even had my barber, Kadin, help swear me in. He wants to be a police officer, my first career and he’s an inspiration to me.
The experience of empowering a child cancer survivor to take control and wield that razor so close to your scalp is one you’ll never forget. The joy in their eyes, and the sense of victory they share in taking someone else’s hair has stuck with me.
