Please help me in granting a wish for a local child. I'm raising funds for a cause that's near and dear to my heart, Make-A-Wish! As most of you know, I have been a volunteer Wish Granter for several years now and it is one of the most rewarding positions of my life. This organization creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, bringing them hope, strength, and joy at the time they need it most.
A wish is a powerful experience that provides essential hope, sparks imagination, and inspires a child to consider limitless possibilities while facing the unthinkable.
One of my moms sent a follow up email after her daughter's wish and said:
"Someone once said that someone in your family has cancer, everyone in your family has cancer. That is never as true as when the person that has cancer is a child. Siblings and parents go through the full range of emotions with the grief of the diagnosis. This cruise helped everyone relax, enjoy, and truly experience a trip of a lifetime. They created a magical wish of memories that will last a lifetime: true joy in our difficult journey."
Locally, the Central and Northern Florida chapter grants more than 240 wishes per year at an average cost of $8,000 per wish. Wish kids and families are our friends, neighbors, and relatives! Their wishes engage entire communities in life-changing moments, as each one requires an incredible amount of brainpower, creativity, time, and generosity to fulfill. As a member of the W.I.S.H. Society (Women Inspiring Strength & Hope), I'm invested in this cause more than ever; sharing Make-A-Wish with anyone who will listen (thank you) and raising funds to grant at least one child's wish - a minimum goal of $8,000. There are few things more powerful than making a wish come true! I have experienced this firsthand. It truly is life changing for the kids and the whole family.
