About Common Ground: Run, Walk, Roll for David's Refuge

We'd love to have you join us for our virtual Common Ground: Run, Walk, Roll or Cheer event! This event is meant to inspire self-care and community - and it simply won't be complete without you!

How it works:

  • Register - Join on your own, or hop onto a team.  Remember, anyone can participate - No matter how you move, this one's all about Common Ground!
  • To fundraise or not to fundraise? - Once registered, you decide - Do you want to invite friends to join you or do some fundraising? We make it easy! Create your own page and share your story ~ You inspire us, and we know we're not alone in that!
  • The Big Day! - Gather a crew in person (if your comfortable with it) and have some fun. Run, walk or roll your favorite route. Aren't ready to gather in a group? That's okay too!  Just remember to take pictures to share on your page - We're all in this together!

At David's Refuge- Common Ground means community

As a community, we recognize that strength often comes from our differences.  Whether we walk or roll, speak, sign or use a communication device, we each have our own individual strengths to celebrate.

When we consider differing abilities, we have a choice. We can build barriers and look away or we can acknowledge our differences and choose to come together. Common Ground: Run, Walk, Roll is a celebration of our unique abilities and raises funds to support caregiving parents and guardians.

Why Participate?

David's Refuge is all about love, support and community.  When you join Common Ground: Run, Walk, Roll, you are joining a family that works together to support, protect and celebrate a vulnerable population. By joining Common Ground, you're bringing joy, education, self-care and respite to care-giving parents.  As you cross this year's virtual finish line, you will not only be achieving your goals - You will be encouraging caregivers to push for theirs as well.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Whether you're an avid runner or simply want to start your own self care journey, this is a great way to start. Many of us now understand the feelings of isolation and solitude that caregivers have felt for years. The past year has brought additional stressors for caregivers and their families as resources were pulled away. Your support reminds these caregivers, now when they need it most, that they are not alone, what they do matters and that God and our community loves them. Your participation provides respite, meals, resources and a caring community to caregiving parents.
