You may have a few questions, so here are some things that you should know before you go!
When is the Race to Cure Sarcoma Denver? The race will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Registration and packet pick up will start at 8:00 am and will end at 9:00 am. Race day t-shirts can be picked up here. T-shirts are not guaranteed to day of registrations.
Where is it being held? The Race to Cure Sarcoma Denver will take place at Cherry Creek High School at 9300 E Union Ave, Greenwood Village, CO US 80111.
What about parking? There is ample parking around the school as well as additional parking lots near campus.
What happens if it rains? No matter the weather, you should head out to the race site. RTCS Denver will take place rain or shine! However, some of the entertainment may not be available.
Do you need any volunteers to help on race day? We certainly do! If you or someone you know is interested in helping, please let us know at email@example.com.
Is there still time for my family and friends to register? Absolutely! Online registration will cost $35 through 3:00pm (5pm EST) 8/23/19. The registration fee will increase to $40 on race day. Participants who register on the day of the event are not guaranteed to receive a race t-shirt.
How do I earn a Champion T-shirt? Participants who registered by August 15th are guaranteed to receive a standard RTCS t-shirt. However, those who raise $100 or more are eligible to receive a special RTCS Champion t-shirt at the event. Should we run out of Champion t-shirts onsite, your information will be collected and one will be mailed to you promptly.
What is the Sarcoma Wall of Hope? We will have a large banner entitled “Wall of Hope & Remembrance” that can be used as a memorial board to remember those who are no longer with us or who are still fighting today. If you would like to add a loved one's photo to the board, please bring the photo with you on race day. We will have tape onsite for you to attach the photo. You can also use this board to fill out our custom 'Why I Race' bibs to attach to the board to also state your reason as to why you race.
Please DO NOT write directly on this banner as we will be reusing it at our other race events.
Will there be a Survivor Photo? Yes! If you or any of your team members are sarcoma survivors, please make sure to pick up your yellow shirt at the registration table and join us for the survivor photo at the conclusion of the opening ceremony at 9:20 am.
What happens during the opening ceremony? The opening ceremony will include remarks from a representative from the Sarcoma Foundation of America and the medical director from the University of Colorado Denver. We will also hear from some others who have been affected by sarcoma. We will take a survivor photo at the conclusion of the remarks. The opening ceremony will end with a quick warm up to get everyone excited to start the race at 9:30 am!
What happens after we finish the walk/run? Good question! There will be a short closing ceremony to conclude the days event. We encourage everyone to stick around and enjoy the DJ and spend time with all of the other teams.
Teams that raised $1,500 or more before August 19th will receive a tent and table at the event. They will be labeled with team names and the teams will be contacted in advance so they know where to go.
All participants are welcomed and encouraged to bring chairs, tents, tables, etc. and take part in post-event festivities. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your friends and family, as well as meet others affected by this cause. Team tailgating is a great way to showcase the spirit of your team and the loved ones we are racing for!
What should I do if I have additional questions? Please send your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the SFA at 301-253-8687 ext. 109.
You should know that your participation in the Race to Cure Sarcoma Denver helps to bring us closer to the cure. It is with your support and involvement that we are able to generate awareness for sarcoma and raise funds for much-needed research. The SFA thanks you for being a part of this effort!
