Mission Trip 2021

Mission Trip 2021 Impacting the World for Christ
Des Moines Christian School

About DMC Mission Trips

Next spring, over 90 students and chaperones from our school will take part in international mission trips on one of our three teams to Honduras, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.  We have three teams but one mission: to impact the world for Christ.  Read on to learn more about what each team will be doing to share God's love.

New! Team Haiti

Team Haiti is new to the mission trip opportunities at Des Moines Christian and will be partnering with non-profit Many Hands for Haiti during the summer of 2021. It is exciting to have our students now impacting an entire island that holds two different countries (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). While on mission, Team Haiti will be pouring at least one concrete floor for the home of a Haitian family while also painting and updating the school. Students will also have the opportunity to work with food distribution to local families and practice evangelism alongside Many Hands For Haiti’s spiritual shepherds. So many new moments of impacting the world for Christ exist for our students in Haiti!

“Our trips center around giving you opportunities to use your God-given talents together, while working alongside the Haitian people. Our goal is to immerse you in the culture of Haiti, providing opportunities for God to speak as you take action in His global church.”

 - Tim Brand, CEO Many Hands for Haiti

Team Honduras

Team Honduras ministers to local Hondurans with dental, medical, and optical missions. Over 152 people visited the dental camp, 839 received medical attention, and 184 adults and children had vision screening. During our time with each one, we intentionally share the Gospel. From those conversations, 23 people recommitted their life to Christ and 19 people accepted Christ for the first time.

“I knew that God had been preparing me for this trip the second that I stepped on the plane. I knew that in the midst of chaos, I had to rely on God to guide me through this trip. I had so many amazing experiences throughout the week and I could see God revealing Himself to me in ways that I never imagined.” - Liliana Boley ‘19

Team Dominican Republic

We have the wonderful opportunity to serve alongside Freedom International Ministries in ministering to over 300 students in Preschool through 5th Grade. Over 150 students received 1:1 tutoring in English and over 60 were discipled through an interactive, afternoon camp. Our students have fully completed building a classroom and made great progress on a second one that Freedom will use within the next year.

“One of the things we are praying for as you prepare to spend time with us in the Dominican Republic is that you would leave here knowing what it means to glorify God in your life in a greater way.  As you pray about your upcoming trip, see if you can discover a concrete answer to the question, ‘What does it mean to glorify God?’ I hope this will enable you to draw closer to the Lord, to help you escape the distractions that scream for your attention, and to prepare you for what the Lord will do in your life while you are here. Christ has set us free!"

- Jason Hilgeman, Director of Freedom International Ministries

Be Brave. Be Bold. Love Big. Students at Des Moines Christian School are provided the opportunity to live out their bold calling on an international mission field through an annual high school mission trip. After years of preparation through local missions, students are ready to take the Gospel abroad and impact the world for Christ. They will bravely follow what the Lord asks them to do, boldly believe Him to provide each step of the way, and love the people of Honduras, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

This year we have over 90 students and chaperones participating in our mission trips to Honduras, Haiti, and Dominican Republic. In Honduras, we will serve alongside World Gospel Outreach to provide medical missions and complete construction projects.  In the Dominican Republic, students will serve alongside Freedom International Ministries to provide educational support at the Preschool-6th grade school and complete construction projects on the school campus. New this year, in Haiti, students will serve alongside Many Hands for Haiti through work projects, distribute food to local families, and practice evangelism.

The cost of each trip covers trip expenses such as airfare, lodging, transportation within the country, travel insurance, and meals.  Each student will be responsible for raising $2,000 to cover the remaining costs.  Please consider making a contribution to help make this trip possible for our students.
