After starting a career in chemical engineering, I discovered shortly afterward that I found true enjoyment from interacting and building relationships with people.
I packed my bags for Harvard Medical School, where I fell in love with pediatric surgery and helping kids and families. I knew this was what I was meant to do. It’s a decision that has always felt right, and would eventually lead me to a wonderful career serving the people of Huntsville.
Over the past 34 years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing my patients heal, grow and thrive. From operating on a once very sick infant, to receiving his graduation announcement in the mail, or treating a toddler who accidentally ingested a chemical substance, to giving a prayer of thanksgiving at her wedding — it’s moments like those that are some of the most fulfilling for doctors like me.
Receiving a Doctors’ Day recognition from one of my patients or their parents prompts me to reflect on the grace of God over my life and the life of the patient. I have been blessed to not only be there for my patients in their afflictions, but to also encourage them as they overcome. It is a true honor to be part of their healing journey, and it’s made possible by donors like you.
This Doctors’ Day, March 30, I ask you to honor an HH Health physician who has made a difference in your life with a gift to Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Your gift will not only recognize your doctor, but it will also make a true impact to help us better serve patients at our not-for-profit hospitals.
When you give to Huntsville Hospital Foundation, you are giving to the healing of our community. You are contributing to the healing and comfort of neighbors you may never see or know during some of their darkest days — a gift that is truly priceless for both the patient and physician.
100% of your donation is tax-deductible, and your personal note will be delivered to the honored physician. Thank you for showing your appreciation and making a difference for patients and families to come.
With gratitude,
James C. Gilbert, Pediatric Surgeon
Tennessee Valley Pediatric Surgery
100% of your tax-deductible gift will provide equipment and programs that enable Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, and Madison Hospital doctors to provide the best care possible for patients. Thank you!
