Join us for the Walk to Honor Dr. Joseph “Joey” Tyron Bell, benefiting ALS United North Carolina, as we come together to remember Joey’s life, honor his legacy, and support North Carolinians living with ALS.
Joey passed away on June 16, 2025, following a courageous journey with ALS. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and pediatrician, Joey spent his life caring for others—serving children and families across North Carolina with compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication. In 1986, he became the first Lumbee pediatrician and the first American Indian pediatrician in North Carolina, leaving a lasting legacy in medicine and in his community.
This walk is both a tribute and a call to action. Funds raised will support ALS United North Carolina’s care services, equipment loan program, research, and advocacy efforts, ensuring that individuals and families facing ALS in our state have access to the care, resources, and support they need.
