My brother and I went to a Colts game Nov. 27, 2011. Less than 24 hours later, he was gone. Taken from us by SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

SUDEP is cruel, destructive, and it has left me searching for nonexistent answers. But not for long.

I realize that every summer I flood your news feed with information and donation requests for the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana, but I cannot simply stand by and allow other families to experience the same inescapable void that will be with me for the rest of my life. This is why I support EFKY.

This organization not only provides research and educational opportunities, it is invaluable to those individuals living with epilepsy as well as their friends and family. And the foundation's SUDEP Institute reassures those of us who continuously deal with indescribable loss that our advocacy for answers ensures our loved one's life was not lost in vain.

My little brother still has the ticket from that Colts game. It's in his front pocket. Mine is in the nightstand drawer next to my bed. I look at it to remember how much fun we had that day, and during others like them. But I also glance at it as a reminder to never stop supporting efforts to eradicate SUDEP so that others may avoid the crippling pain brought about by a simple ticket stub. Please support the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana.
