My Epilepsy Story

I am currently 40 years old. I am a twin born at 28 weeks gestation. I had many complications of prematurity. I had my first seizure at 2 years old.  I have had several different types of seizures over the years and have been prescribed several different medications throughout my life. I have gone as long as 10 years without a seizure, only to have them return due to a medication change. My seizures are currently well controlled. As of May 24th, 2012, it was 13 years since my last tonic-clonic seizure, unfortunate until May 31, 2025, I had one without warning/aura.

I am 1 in 26.

I walk for myself and the many friends with epilepsy that I have met through Epilepsy Foundation Eastern Pa.

Now more than ever, the EFEPA needs your help to advocate for epilepsy funding in the upcoming Pennsylvania budget! As you know the EFEPA has had financial struggles and greatly depends on epilepsy funding from the state of Pennsylvania to provide vital programs and services for the epilepsy community.
