I am so thrilled to be running my second consecutive New York City marathon this fall! But this one is all the more special as I finally get the opportunity to support TEAM FD, an organization and a cause that is near and dear to me. My cousin, Josh Kietz, was diagnosed with Familial Dysautonomia, a rare genetic disorder at birth. FD affects nerve cells in the autonomic nervous system, the part of the nervous system that controls involuntary functions like breathing and digestion.

Over the years, the I've collaborated with the Foundation to participate in several fundraisers in honor of Josh, including indoor cycling classes and racing Ironman Maryland in 2016. I've found that spreading the word about FD and raising money for the foundation through sport and endurance to be one of the most rewarding pursuits of my adult life.

Racing my hometown marathon to raise money for the Familial Dysautonomia Foundation will be one of the most special endurance events I've had the opportunity to participate in and I cannot wait for November 6th!
