I pray that you and your family are healthy and doing well during these troubling times. Realizing that some residents in our county may not be as fortunate as others, I have decided to try and help in some small way. If you are able to help in my fundraising efforts, I would greatly appreciate it.
Feeding Westchester is at the heart of a network that expertly sources and distributes food and resources to feed people who are hungry in every town in Westchester, nourishing all who are in need. Working with more than 300 local partners, they serve nearly 200,000 people each year. They supply 95 percent of all food distributed annually across our region’s food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, daycare and residential programs.
In the month of March, they distributed more than 1.4 million pounds of food in the county, about a 77% increase from what they moved last March. They have worked with individual municipalities to set up temporary food pickup sites, as well as continuing to work with their robust countywide partner network. They have dropped pallets at schools and municipal centers throughout the county. They have also hosted their own drive-thru food distributions with social distancing practices in place, both at their Elmsford headquarters, as well as at the Westchester Community College. They are also working with the restaurant industry to make sure no laid off employees go hungry (Million Gallons of Soup Challenge).
