I am fundraising to support Team Boomer, the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and the entire cystic fibrosis community!
CYCLING FOR CF - 2024
Dear Friends, Family & Business Associates,
Two years ago, my partner Darla Donovan & I rode our bicycles from California to Massachusetts for charity with the hopes of raising $100,000 for Cystic Fibrosis. Unfortunately, we fell significantly short of our goal raising just under 20%. Our ride started in Long Beach, California on April 1st, 2022 and finished almost three months later on June 22nd in my hometown of Fairhaven, Massachusetts.
Once again, we are setting out on another cross-country venture, but this time with a twist. Beginning May 5th, we start a 49-day journey from Manhattan Beach, California to Revere Beach, Massachusetts joining a group of 30 bicyclists driving the support vehicle carrying all their equipment and gear.
We are again teaming up with The Boomer Esiason Foundation with our theme being:
“CYCLING for CF – 100,000 miles for $100,000”
Our longer-term mission is to gather people together to help us reach our $100,000 goal to further enhance awareness of the need to find a cure for this terrible disease. As of April 2024, Darla & I have just over 47,000 miles to go having logged over 52,000 miles of bicycling in the past 10 years, but we still have over $80,000 to go to reach our goal. We are now going to include our cycling and walking mileage to help us build more momentum toward reaching 100,000 miles and $100,000.
Our primary motivation is to acknowledge my favorite (and only) niece, Libby Montigny who has been challenged with this disease since birth. We are asking other people who run, walk, swim or cycle to log their miles and join us to make this a more powerful opportunity to unite for a cause. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has fueled dramatic improvements in cystic fibrosis research including the development of a new drug called TRIKAFTA in recent years. Because of this and help from people like you, those with CF are living longer, healthier lives and the outlook for people with CF continues to improve year after year.
