Greenbelt Conservancy's Hike-a-Thon supporting Greenbelt Conservancy

I want to do this for the miles, the smiles, and the memories. Hiking makes me happier and healthier, and I want to share this journey. These six weeks are a great time of year for fun, fitness, focus, and phenology. This is the season of warblers, wildflowers, and water striders, and the Greenbelt is a great place to bear witness to many magic moments.
Join me in supporting the Greenbelt Conservancy, Staten Island's largest environmental nonprofit organization working to promote, protect, and sustain more than 2,800 acres of natural areas and open space!
Each of the six weeks have some unique and special aspects, and I look forward to choosing my own adventures within them, as well as sharing them through public events and activities.
(weeks 1 and 2): City Nature Challenge: April 28-May 1: #5onFri (take 5 photos of flora and fauna on Arbor Day, Friday April 29, and upload to iNaturalist) https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2023-staten-island-greenbelt
(weeks 2, 3, and 4): NYC Wildflower Week: May 5-May 14 https://www.nycwildflowerweek.org/
(ongoing) I BIRD NY Challenge https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/109900.html#2023
My goal is to raise $622 to support the Greenbelt
6 = There are six weeks in the Hike-A-Thon
(and this is a dream nearly six years in the making)
2 = There are two great events (Earth Day and National Trails Day) to kick off and conclude the Hike-A-Thon
2 = the second Greenbelters night takes place on June 22
(also, the Greenbelt Nature Center first opened on June 22, 2004)
