"My experience during LIVESTRONG was eye opening in several ways. The counselors understood what a lot of the class was going through and that made everything much more helpful. Also, just seeing what some other folks were dealing with put my situation into a different perspective, I found courage in the courage of others. And, the encouragement was well tuned into me as an individual, not trying to do too much, or too little. Having the schedule in place provided a focal point for me. And the sense of humor was great."  -- Dave

"I joined LIVESTRONG in January 2018. I was a mess physically but more importantly mentally as my wife had passed away 2 months earlier. The love and support displayed by the entire staff as well as my team mates literally made my life worth living again. The fact I had made a commitment made me leave the house even when I did not want to. I have since joined in with several groups and met many wonderful people."  -- Keld

"The LIVESTRONG Program at the Y is to me, very significant in maintaining stability of mind, body, spirt, and healing: a new beginning through all adversities of this dreaded disease called cancer.  I became whole once again in physical strength, mobility and endurance.  My coaches, now my friends, gave myself back to me through unconditional love and support.  What greater gift is there?"  -- Holly-Ann

"I have been a member of the LIVESTRONG program since it started in June 2016. I can't express enough praise for the program and especially the staff who run the program. They are so helpful, caring and looking out on how to help you. Even though, I had my cancer in 2012, I didn't always feel that I had the energy I needed. I was sluggish, always tired and having Fibromyalgia I hurt constantly. It was my daughter who told me about the program and pushed me to go. It was hard at first, but I felt better and then much better since I have been doing the program.  I can move and do so much more now even though I hurt. I can walk better and have more energy. There have been times I missed a couple or 3 months at a time, then I go back to low energy, very tired and hurting more.  So, I always come back. I believe it is one of my lifelines and I am so grateful.  Please continue to come - it will be the best gift you can give to yourself. And thank you to the staff and especially Cindy for their continuing help and friendship over the years."  --  Caroline

"Last year I was very depressed about a family matter that had traumatized me.  I saw the ad for the LIVESTRONG Program, and I found the courage and made the call.  I had never joined anything alone and I had never been in a gym before.  My first interview I was so nervous, but Cindy put me at ease.  I joined the program and it made me stronger both physically, mentally and socially.  All the staff always had a smile for you, and they were helpful and encouraging.  They never were pushy about you having to do more and they introduced us to so many of the other great classes at the Y.  The people I met in the program were very nice, I made some very close friends.  I loved it here and join right after the program ended.  I now come all the time with the friends I made here."  --  Pat

"I ended my treatments in August 2017 and in September 2017 I started LIVESTRONG.  I had neuropathy in my feet, hands and mouth, the program really helped me threw it and with the other side effect after chemo it gave me more energy to help me threw my day.  You don’t realize how much strength you lose in treatment.  The LIVESTRONG program helped get that back for me, there very kind understanding and they are at your side helping you through it even just to listen to how your feeling.  Very kind atmosphere." -- Gloria

"The YMCA’s LIVESTRONG program has proven itself to me to be a “life-saving program."  Cancer survivors like me need to be physically active.  Our bodies have been compromised by the cancer, but not defeated.  LIVESTRONG has taught me how to exercise in a constructive and healthy way.  Given my new parameters-not limitations-necessarily, just differently in my strength and balance that I need to work on, for LIVESTRONG is a free three-month program for you and your caretaker (should you have one!).  Once you have completed the program, there are many classes available at the Y, which your medical insurance may help you pay for.  If not, the Y has low rates for seniors.  Hey, this is a win-win situation for you and your family! Go for it!"  --  Carol
