About Invest in the Nest
April is National Community College Month
As YOUR community college, HCC is ready to celebrate. And there is a lot to celebrate:
- In Illinois, community colleges have an economic output on the statewide economy of $3.5 billion.
- More than 84% of students who earn a long-term certificate or Associate in Applied Science degree are employed in their field within a year.
- With inexpensive tuition, community college is a sound investment. Once they complete their education, community college graduates experience higher earnings – with an average annual rate of return of nearly 27%!

The Impact of Your Gift
Your gift will allow us to continue supporting our students in many ways
Scholarship awards impact academic success for students like 1st generation college students, underrepresented populations and students with high financial need.
Support for academic programs like nursing, radiography, physical therapist assistant, advanced manufacturing, and agriculture including lab and equipment upgrades as well as scholarship opportunities.
The Student Emergency Fund assists students with groceries, rent, and other expenses when unforeseen life events endangered their ability to complete their education.

If you’d like to give of your time and talents, there are several ways to Invest in the Nest
• Serve on an HCC Foundation event planning committee.
• Donate a silent auction item to an annual event.
• Volunteer to read and score scholarship applications.
• Attend an annual event: HCC FunnyRaiser or Heartland Night Out
