2021 Hill Country Ride for AIDS

About 2021 HCRA

This week is our Virtual Ride Week. Due to Covid-19, we are hosting our annual event and fundraiser differently this year. We have a full week of virtual programming designed so you may participate at your own pace and on your own schedule.

Our Red Flag Mile of Silence Installation at Pease Park along the Shoal Creek Trail is available ALL WEEK for you to bike, run, or walk.

The Mile of Silence is a memorial to those we have lost to AIDS - riders may add flags for their loved ones. On Ride Day (4/24), come to the Mile of Silence through Pease Park between 9 AM and 2 PM and we'll be there with additional red flags you can mark and place along the installation in memory, celebration, or honor of a loved one. There are also several pre-made route options including the Mile of Silence, below.

    • 11 Miler with almost NO ROADS (PDF) (RideWithGPS route and downloadable files)- This is a scenic route that goes down Shoal Creek through some newer bike paths in downtown, then along Lady Bird Lake and back including a ride through Auditorium Shores.
    • 28 Miler from Govalle Park (PDF) (RideWithGPS route and downloadable files) - with great extension options - This route leaves from Govalle Park so your riders can add additional miles. We picked "safer" roads for this - probably the roughest part is crossing 35 on St. John's.
    • The Friends of David Powell Team & All Ride, All Ride, All Ride is meeting around 11 AM and will do a 15-20 mile social ride including stops at some of their favorite businesses that support the team (Brewtorium, Iron Bear, and Drinks Lounge). If you want to join, then check out their facebook event page.
    • JoyRide routes are available here - these do not include the Mile of Silence.
