About the Cause
Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) is an inherited disease that affects cilia - tiny, hair-like structures that line the respiratory tract, middle and inner ear, reproductive organs and ventricles of the brain. When ciliary function is lost, it can cause breathing problems, chronic infections, and other disorders. The impact of this damage, especially in the lungs, can be devastating.
The PCD Foundation was started in 2002 to address severe unmet needs in the PCD patient community, and to provide the leadership and resources needed to support increased research, accelerated diagnosis, improved health, and ultimately, a cure for PCD.

'Ignite the Future: Campaign to Clear the Way' is a fundraising campaign to support the PCD Foundation. It is the PCD Foundation's first ever comprehensive campaign to expand existing clinical care and research networks, provide education and develop a therapeutic network to facilitate and support clinical trials aimed at better understanding, treating, and curing PCD.
The campaign has an ambitious goal of raising $5 million over the next three years to fund our most ambitious initiatives. We are asking our community to help us raise $50,000 toward this goal in 2026 by donating, registering to host a fundraising page or by organizing an event of your own.
Every effort and every contribution, regardless of size, fuels our ability to expand our efforts and ignite change!
