Inspire Atlanta 2026 Supporting Atlanta Women's Foundation

As a mother of a daughter, I'm raising funds for the Atlanta Women’s Foundation because I believe every girl deserves the chance to succeed.
My Why
Growing up in a lower middle-class family meant we always had food on the table and clothes on our backs. Maybe not the Guess jeans I wanted as a teenager or fancy dinners out, but we never worried about food or housing.
My parents kept a vegetable garden in the backyard. My mom sewed and knitted many of our clothes that didn’t come from Sears. More importantly, I watched them help people who were less fortunate and support organizations that aligned with their values. I remember them picking up neighbors who needed rides to church and delivering meals to people who were sick.
My mom even worked on a project for the National Organization for Women and took me to marches in support of the Equal Rights Amendment. I was so proud to march in Washington, D.C. with her, wearing a little pink T-shirt that read “Littlest Feminist.” I didn’t fully understand what it meant at the time. I just knew it mattered deeply to my mom and to the thousands of women and girls walking beside us.
Fast forward to 2023. After years of volunteering and serving on nonprofit boards, I felt called to get involved with an organization focused specifically on supporting women. That search led me to the Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF). Their mission. “To be a catalyst for change in the lives of women and girls”. immediately resonated with me, so I reached out about volunteer opportunities.
That year, I volunteered at AWF’s annual Numbers Too Big To Ignore Luncheon, their largest fundraising event benefiting nonprofits across Metro Atlanta. More than 1,600 people gathered in a massive ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center, all united around helping women and girls thrive.
It was there that I learned some staggering statistics. Only 2 percent of charitable giving in the United States goes to organizations serving women and girls. In Metro Atlanta, 17 percent of women age 18 and older live in poverty, and nearly 80,000 girls are growing up in poverty.
I felt a pull to do more. Then I learned about Inspire Atlanta. A community-impact experience that brings together women who want their giving to truly matter. Participants learn about the barriers facing women and girls through research, simulations, and conversations with AWF’s nonprofit partners.
I’m honored to now be part of the Inspire Atlanta Class of 2026.
Through this program, I have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for women and girls in our community and to model philanthropy and leadership for my own daughter. As part of Inspire Atlanta, I’ll be raising funds for AWF’s strategic grantmaking initiatives. AWF conducts rigorous research to identify the greatest needs, selects nonprofits addressing those challenges, provides substantial multi-year grants, and tracks outcomes to ensure real impact.
I would love for you to support my campaign and join me in helping women and girls get the resources they need to thrive.
Because when women and girls thrive, entire communities become safer, stronger, and more resilient.
