In 2001 PCSO Deputy Karen Johnson was instrumental in bringing the Special Olympics Torch Run to Placer County.  Karen loved kids (she was a DARE instructor), loved to run and she enjoyed working with the Special Olympics.  Sadly, Karen died in 2003 while out on a training run.  Not only is our support of Special Olympics important but equally so is the memory and amazing spirit of Karen.  

We commit to supporting Special Olympics and to honoring Karen's memory every year.
