Lights Up! on Serving the Community

    • CPH produced its first full-length world premiere in 1921 and has since brought more than 100 world and American premieres to the stage.
    • More than 12 million people have attended over 1,600 productions throughout our history.
    • In the last year, our virtual content has helped to expand our reach to include audience members from 23 different states and countries.

    • Each season, CPH programs reach nearly 40,000 life-long learners.
    • CPH has reached an estimated 1.5 million children since the first formalized theatre class was delivered in 1933.
    • Five CPH Site Coordinators leverage over $2 million worth of goods and services from community partners to support students, families, and community members.

    • Through many economic and social upheavals, including: wars, depressions, and pandemics - CPH has never missed a season in 106 years.

Lights Up! on a story of perseverance, resilience, and innovation.

For over a year, we have offered a season online. The stage lights remain dimmed, but we stayed connected virtually. Zoom became the new stages, classrooms, and office spaces; learning pods brought small groups of students safely together; and CPH distributed computers, supplies, and food to families who needed them.

But now, it is time to bring the Lights Up! on Cleveland Play House and welcome you home. Lights Up! will support CPH producing plays again; delivering flexible and accessible performances and educational activities in unique venues; rebuilding our teams of administrators, artists, and artisans; continuing to build on what was learned by using virtual platforms; and implementing safety protocols in all aspects of our work.

Lights Up! is much more than an ask for support - it will bring us home. It is a spotlight on recovery and moving forward. With Passion and Purpose in Every Performance, Cleveland Play House promises to return with invigorated purpose - a place that welcomes ALL.

With your support, we will bring the Lights Up!
