About the Cause
Education Through Music was founded in 1991 in the south Bronx, to bring music into the lives of young people growing up in New York city. We believe that every child deserves access to high-quality music education, taught by qualified and well-trained music teachers. Music should support learning in other key areas, including math, science and language arts. Engaged parents and school communities are key to the success of students.
Education Through Music (ETM) partners with under-resourced schools to provide music as a core subject for all children, and utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school and self-confidence. Each year ETM partners with 50+ schools in all five boroughs of New York City, to bring in-school weekly music education to tens of thousands of children.
Creating a memorial or tribute page is a meaningful way to honor or memorialize a family member or friend and support the mission of Education Through Music. It celebrates their life and leaves a lasting legacy through the act of philanthropy.
A memorial or tribute page allows you to share your loved one’s story. Visitors to your page can make a donation in lieu of gifts or flowers, post messages of encouragement, or share your page with their friends.
100% of donations made will support music in our schools and purchase critical classroom supplies, musical instruments, and music teacher salaries.
