In March of 2024, Annie and her family received news no one ever expects to hear. After months of back pain, a visit to the emergency room revealed the unimaginable—a tumor on her spine and spots on her lungs.
Within 30 minutes of her diagnosis, Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP) team was by their side, helping them begin to process a new and overwhelming reality. The weeks that followed were filled with uncertainty, but Annie’s care team—Dr. Weiss, Liz Murray, and the incredible MCCP staff—worked closely with her family every step of the way.
Just two weeks after diagnosis, Annie began chemotherapy and settled into a routine of treatment at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by world-class care right here in Maine. When Annie needed specialized radiation at Mass General, MCCP coordinated her care seamlessly—supporting her family through eight weeks in Boston and again later in the fall when Annie returned for lung surgery.
On January 2, 2025, Annie rang the bell—marking the end of an intense chapter and the beginning of a new one. Today, more than a year later, Annie is healthy, managing maintenance treatment, and back to doing what she loves most… especially skiing at Pleasant Mountain
