Help support local families as they manage the struggles of childhood cancer.
Originally from Louisville KY, I moved to Anchorage in 2007 when my oldest son started Kindergarten at Anchorage School. That same son was diagnosed with Leukemia in high school in January, 2020 right before the pandemic. His journey has left a lifelong impression on me.
My purpose for forming Anchors Away Home & Pet Care, www.anchorsawayhomecare.com, is to serve communities through home and pet care services. I also strive to help support local families as they manage the struggles of childhood cancer. Therefore, each September, our Go Gold campaign will donate 20% our company proceeds obtained through home & pet service bookings, along with all individual donations through this campaign, to local children cancer centers such as Norton Children's 7 West. For more than a century, Norton Children’s Hospital and its predecessor hospitals have cared for the children of Kentucky and Southern Indiana without regard to their families’ ability to pay. Norton Children’s Hospital is Kentucky’s only full-service, free-standing pediatric care facility dedicated exclusively to caring for children and is an advocate for the health and well-being of all children. The 300-bed hospital serves as the primary pediatric teaching facility for the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
As the need for expert pediatric care has grown in our region, so has the footprint of Norton Children’s Hospital and the specialized care we provide. Our medical facilities currently serve more than 170,000 patients each year.
By donating to my page, you’re stepping up to help these children children and their families by helping provide hope and healing. When my family was in the middle of my son's cancer treatment, we greatly felt the love and generosity of our friends and community and hope to provide patients and families like ours with continued support that means so much.
Thank you for considering donating to this special cause.
Sincerely,
Shay Dixon
Feeling particularly strong and determined, Connor was ready to tackle his challenges head-on, but only strengthened through the love and support he received from his family, friends, providers and community.
