Stella's Broken Heart Club
Stella was born with congenital heart disease. In addition to having multiple holes in her ventricle wall, Stella was diagnosed with left ventricular noncompaction cardiomyopathy. In other words, her heart doesn't squeeze. In Stella's short life, she has survived cardiac and respiratory arrest, more than 75 minutes of CPR, a stroke, open heart surgery, seven days of ecmo (total heart, lung, and kidney life support), multiple catheter procedures, and a heart transplant. So far Stella has proven to be quite the little fighter, which is only fitting since "fighter" is the meaning of her middle name Louise. Stella received a heart transplant on July 23, 2018, and is currently recovering from her transplant.
We are forever grateful to the incredible nurses, doctors, surgeons, and therapists who have provided tireless medical care and support to our Stella. Though we can never repay these professionals for their skill and care, we want to help give them a comfortable place to relax and recharge during their long, hard, and emotionally draining days at work. To do so, we are working to raise money for the new Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Norton Children's Hospital.
Stella would love for you to help her reach her that goal. Donations are tax deductible. Join Stella's Broken Hearts Club by following her on Instagram at @strongasstella or on Facebook at Stella Louise, Heart Warrior.
