The Mount Kilimanjaro team is comprised of ovarian cancer survivors, caregivers, and family members who are dedicated to raising awareness and funds in support of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's vision - to one day live in a world where no person loses their life to ovarian cancer. These advocates are dedicating countless hours of mental and physical training as they gear up for their ambitious 19,341 foot uphill trek, through 5 unique climate zones, inspiring strength with each step they take for the teal community around the globe. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is thrilled to partner with climb leader, Sean Swarner of Swarner Expeditions, a two-time cancer survivor, and the only survivor to summit the tallest peaks on each of the seven continents. Check out the incredible stories of our athletes below, and like us on social @nocc_teamteal to follow along the journey of our 7 Team Teal hikers as they Take HOPE to New Heights!
By signing up to be a member of NOCC Team Teal you are truly making a difference with your miles by helping to improve the lives of individuals affected by ovarian cancer.

"When diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I found myself counting a lot more than usual. Counting the days I had to go until the next chemo, counting medications, and counting days left on restrictions. One of the most significant daily counts I made was counting the stairs to ascend at home. There were 16 stairs to navigate; it took a VERY LONG time to get up and down them. That's behind me now. I am well again, and ready to put one foot in front of the other to climb the estimated 19,341 "stairs" to summit Mount Kilimanjaro with Team Teal, and show the world that cancer can be overcome, one step at a time"..... Angela, Stage II Ovarian Cancer Survivor.
"I was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer, just six months after my mother was diagnosed. Now, seven years later, I wonder why I'm one of “the lucky ones” and still here - showing no evidence of disease. The only thing I can think of is, I am alive to make a difference, to increase awareness about Ovarian Cancer, so other women can be diagnosed earlier and hopefully beat this"... Christine, Stage IV Ovarian Cancer Survivor
"Every year since being diagnosed I push myself to do one challenging adventure a year, to remind myself that I am stronger than cancer. Why, you might ask - why not, would be my response. Why not support my sisters in teal by raising money for the ovarian cancer cause while doing something I love"... Randalynn, Ovarian Cancer Survivor
