I am running the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon for Team Boomer and the cystic fibrosis community!

Thank you for taking the time to come to my fundraising page!

My dear friend Annie McMahon passed away in July after battling cystic fibrosis (and kicking ass) for 22 years. Annie was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when she was 3 years old and she grew up as normal as could be - no one would ever know she was in and out of the hospital. During her senior year of high school, she began to stay in the hospital more frequently & became a bit more taken by her disease. She underwent her first double lung transplant in October of 2016. She felt great and was so great, but by July 2017 her body began to reject the new set of lungs. She was very sick & eventually had a second double-lung transplant in November of 2017. She made it to the Plunge in February after a long, hard recovery. Now, life began. She was so focused on getting better & living life, and that she did. She traveled and went out with her friends and smiled bigger than ever. Her story is incredibly moving & you could read more about it: https://rockawaytimes.com/index.php/columns/5461-annie-mcmahon-left-her-mark . I feel really grateful to be apart of Annie's story.

I admire Annie’s strength and I always have. She was a fighter and she fought so hard for so long. I truly never thought anything would happen to her. She never let anyone know what she felt. Even if she was in the worst pain, she was not cancelling our shopping trips or missing out on a good meal. I think about her and the legacy she left behind constantly and I miss her so dearly.

Running this half marathon, I owe it to Annie to use my strength the way she always used hers. I will never know someone like Annie ever again. I really want to make her proud. Please consider donating to me as I embark on this run that is going to test my strength like crazy!!!! I am scared and nervous but excited because I know Annie will be with us the whole time ❤️
