2020 United Airlines NYC Half

I am running the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon for Team Boomer and the cystic fibrosis community!

One of my best friends, Annie McMahon, passed away this summer due to the effects of Cystic Fibrosis. 

As a toddler, Annie was diagnosed with CF, and she fought it fiercely and relentlessly her entire life. As a result of the disease, Annie received two double lung transplants in her lifetime, one in 2016, and the next in 2017. In 2019, her lungs started rejecting again, and she was in need of a third transplant. After being accepted to get a third double lung transplant at Duke University, Annie became too sick to receive one. Annie passed away on July 25th of this year. 

Annie was one of my lifelong best friends. She had the most confident, courageous, and effortlessly fun personalities out of anyone I've ever known. She knew how to make any situation lighter, brighter, and a whole lot more fun. If theres one way I have to describe her, it's the fact that she was unapologetically herself, always.

Aside from that, Annie was 100% a fighter. Annie braved daily CF medications and treatments, hospital stays, procedures, surgeries, and two lung transplants like it was easy. She never complained, and when she was feeling good, she always managed to keep up with our group of friends, no matter what we were doing. Whether that was by playing on all of our elementary school sports teams, HS cheerleading, going shopping, or going to parties, etc. Annie certainly did not let CF stop her from living her best life, and I am so grateful to have had a friend like her. 

My friends and I are doing this half marathon to honor Annie and her lifelong fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Any contribution made is so so so appreciated. Thank you <3

Team Boomer is the athletic division of the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
We work to encourage people with cystic fibrosis to live active, healthy lifestyles.
We welcome any advocate to join the team to raise funds and awareness for the CF community.

How does Team Boomer help?

The money raised by our Team Boomer athletes helps fund our scholarships, transplant grants, disaster relief program, and a number of educational resources.
