I Am Making a Difference with My Miles!

For those who do not know, I don’t talk about this often, I lost my mother on my 16th birthday. She passed from Ovarian Cancer. It took me years to overcome this challenge until I decided to change my perspective. Rather than to be sad and angry, not wanting to ever celebrate my birthday, missing my mom, and not understanding, I realized years later that she was taken from me on that day, to always be connected to me.

I’ve lived more than half of my life without having my mom in it. Unfortunately, as the years pass I feel less connected to her. I want to be able to feel her presence again.

When I was accepted into this NYC half marathon, I was feeling very unsure and discouraged physically about running the distance. But realizing that the race falls on the day after my birthday, I felt so compelled to move forward with this challenge. I feel like it’s going to bring me closer to my mom again!

And no challenge is greater than having lost her. Mommy, I will see you at the finish line! 🥰🏃🏼‍♀️💪🩵

Please join me as I run to raise awareness and funding for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition as a member of NOCC TEAM TEAL.

Your donations will support women and families affected by the disease, while raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, and improve the advancement of ovarian cancer research. Together, we can make a difference! 🩵
