2023 United Airlines NYC Half supporting Boomer Esiason Foundation

Ciaran is running the NYC Half Marathon to raise awareness for CF and fundraise for the Boomer Esiason Foundation
What I'm running for...
In 2020, I had committed to running the NYC Half Marathon to fundraise for a CF related organization, as well as demonstrate what people with Cystic Fibrosis are capable of thanks to the latest advancements in medicine. After training for several months, my pathway to running in NYC was sadly closed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although I chose to run the half-marathon length in my home town the day the half-marathon was supposed to take place, but it did not feel the same.
Determined to finish what I had started, I am now committing to train again this winter so that I can complete this half-marathon in New York city.
Who I'm running for...
Team Boomer is the athletic division of the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
They work to encourage people with cystic fibrosis to live active, healthy lifestyles.
They welcome any advocate to join the team to raise funds and awareness for the CF community. Why Team Boomer?
The money raised by Team Boomer athletes helps fund their scholarships, transplant grants, disaster relief program, and a number of educational resources.
Today, I was able to run a half marathon. Admittedly, it was not as I had expected. When I initially signed up for this, I had planned on running as apart of #TeamBoomer for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and to run across a finish line in Manhattan. First, I worried that the removal of my feeding tube would get in the way of accomplishing this goal. It did not. Then, a global pandemic spread throughout the world that has now made it a liability for people like me to be out in public. (You literally can't write this stuff sometimes). .. Earlier this week, I decided to not run in Manhattan out of worry not only for just myself, but for the people I could pass COVID-19 on to. But I still wanted to run, so I decided to do what we should all be doing in this crisis. Going about living your life as normally as you can, but more importantly as safely as you can. I decided to run the equivalent length of the NYC Half Marathon by myself in the safety of Dutchess County, my home. Now I am sore as hell, but left feeling satisfied that I did what I said I was going to do. I ran to raise awareness for those with Cystic Fibrosis, and wish to set an example to those with CF about how we need to adapt over the coming long months. We will pull through this, and we will do so together. .. Thank you to @bobby.acker for the great photos! And thank you to all my family, and friends who helped make this possible and donated money to the cause throughout all of this! The donated funds still went to a great cause with the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and cannot thank you all enough! .. #fightcfwithbef #TeamBoomer #BoomerEsiasonFoundation #CysticFibrosis #nychalfmarathon
