  • Financial Support:  Helps with mortgage bills, rent, utilities, phone, food, and other household expenses. It provides  a financial game plan for families with tools like financial literacy workshops and financial coaching.
  • Emotional Support: Hosts special events so families, patients, caregivers and siblings can come together with others facing the same challenges.
  • Practical Support: Supports treatment facilities to improve quality of life for the patient and their families.

About the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund

The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation is named for Jay McGillis, who was diagnosed with leukemia while playing football under Coach Coughlin at Boston College. Coach admired the red-headed strong side safety for his incredible work ethic and intense play.

In the eight months between Jay’s diagnosis and the day he lost his battle with cancer, the Coughlin family saw firsthand the physical, emotional and financial strains the illness caused Jay’s family. Coach Coughlin vowed that if he ever had the chance, he would create a way to help families with children battling cancer.

Thank you for your support!

Five runners will race on behalf of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund in the 2024 United Airlines New York City Half marathon. The runners' goal is to raise a total of $7,500 in support of the Jay Fund's mission of providing financial, emotional and practical support to families tackling childhood cancer.

We hope you will consider supporting our individual runners or our marathon team as a whole.
