Make A Difference with Your Miles!

My mom, Nancy Deedrick, was a fighter. In 2022, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer, a devastating blow after already battling cancer once before.  But my mom was determined. She faced chemo with incredible strength and even achieved remission for a time.  Tragically, the cancer returned the following summer, but her spirit remained unbroken. She continued her fight, enduring more rounds of chemo with unwavering courage.

Then, in May 2024, we received the news no family ever wants to hear: there was nothing more doctors could do.  We were told she had only ten days left.  But my mom wasn't finished.  She defied the odds, her strength fueled by love, and made it to West Jefferson, NC to witness my brother Matt's daughter, Madeline, get married in June.  At that wedding, she showed us all what true strength looked like, even finding the energy to dance.  It was a moment none of us will ever forget.

Sadly, in July 2024, my mom's courageous battle with ovarian cancer came to an end.  She was an incredible mother, wife, and the most loving "GiGi" to my three children.  Her memory, her strength, and her unwavering love inspire me every single day.

I'm running the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon in her honor, and I'm asking for your help to make a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer.  I'm raising money for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC), an organization dedicated to improving the lives of women, families, and communities affected by this devastating disease.

Ovarian cancer is often diagnosed too late, making early detection and research critical.  The NOCC funds vital programs that increase awareness of the often subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, provide crucial support to newly diagnosed patients and their families, and advocate for groundbreaking research that offers hope for a future without ovarian cancer.

My mom's fight was valiant, but it shouldn't have been so difficult.  By supporting my run and the NOCC, you can help fund research, improve early detection methods, and provide much-needed support to women and families facing this challenge.  Every dollar donated brings us closer to a world where more mothers, daughters, sisters, and grandmothers can live longer, healthier lives.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.  Join me in honoring my mom's legacy and helping to save lives.  Together, we can make a real impact in the fight against ovarian cancer.
