Katie Miller

Katie has been an avid runner for over 20 years and is honored to run the TCS New York City Marathon with Darkness to Light.

Originally from Newnan, Georgia, Katie has called Atlanta’s Virginia-Highland neighborhood home for almost 18 years. Katie has spent that time building a career in the fundraising and not-for-profit industry. Since 2012, she has worked for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, helping lead its efforts to develop community awareness and secure philanthropic support for the not-for-profit pediatric healthcare system of hospitals, facilities, and programs. She is currently a Director on the foundation team, specializing in major and legacy giving for the organization. She finds fulfillment every day in their mission to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow.

Katie has always been drawn to organizations that serve children and families, and she has enjoyed volunteering and supporting multiple non-profits in her community and across the country that have a similar focus. She is especially passionate about child advocacy programs and initiatives highlighting sexual abuse and trafficking education and prevention - so she is energized and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to fundraise and run on behalf of Darkness to Light. While Katie has run countless races and half marathons, running the TCS New York City Marathon is a longtime dream. This will be Katie’s first marathon, which happens to fall one week before her 40th birthday.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, she is a proud Dawg with degrees in Journalism and Spanish. She and her husband, Doug Miller, have two young daughters. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, writing, special home projects, and spending time outdoors with her family whenever possible. She looks forward to sharing this opportunity with them and hopes to instill the love of being active and giving back with her daughters.
