The Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club has been hosting the Peninsula Paddle For The Kids for 45 years. Through their support, they have raised over $440,000 for children and adults with disabilities who attend Easter Seals Summer Camps.

I first got into big canoe paddling because I love how canoes bring people together. There’s something special about working as a team, being present on the water, and connecting with people and places we might not otherwise experience.

That spirit of connection is also why I volunteer organizing participants for Paddle for the Kids. I love helping people feel supported as they step into something big together and this event definitely qualifies!

This year marks the 45th annual Peninsula Paddle for the Kids. In two shifts, members of the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club will paddle 75 km from Brentwood Bay, around the Saanich Peninsula, and back to the clubhouse more than 10 hours on the water, following seven weeks of training paddles across the lower Island.

But the real purpose is bigger than the paddle.

Every dollar raised helps children and adults with disabilities attend Easter Seals summer camps, places where campers can build confidence, form friendships, and experience the freedom and joy of camp. It also gives families and caregivers an important week of respite. Connection, community, care and camp.

I’d love for you to be part of this story.  If you’re able, please consider making a donation or sharing this page.

With gratitude & hugs! 🛶💗
